Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib award announced for scientific excellence

Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Medical Group is launching a first-of-its-kind award recognizing excellence in scientific research and innovation in the Kingdom.

A ceremony to launch the “Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Journal for Research Excellence Award” will be held at Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Hospital in Alkhobar, under the patronage of Secretary-General of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Professor Dr. Ayman Asaad Abdo.

The awards aims to “support scientific production and preparation of an efficient environment for research, innovation, and scientific creativity,” according to Dr. Awad Al-Omari, secretary-general of the award and associate vice president for physicians and academic affairs.

The award, valued at SR1.5 million ($400,000), has received support from Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib, chairman of the board of directors.

The award sets the achievement of a set of goals as a top priority, the most important of which is to contribute to creating an efficient environment for scientific research, innovation, creativity, motivation, and a spirit of competition among researchers. Furthermore, it aims to enhance the output of scientific research in the Kingdom and contribute to the main elements of the group’s strategic plan.

The ultimate goal is to enable Saudi Arabia to become a competitive field for research, discoveries, inventions, and scientific achievements, which in turn will enhance the Kingdom’s position on the global map.

Dr. Al-Omari said that what makes the award more important is that it is in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which considers scientific research, innovation, and creativity as the most important tools contributing to the achievement of its goals.

“The group is redoubling its efforts to make the award more inspiring and responsive to Saudi Vision 2030, which provides unprecedented opportunities to develop the research sector and to build a vibrant society and an ambitious homeland,” Dr. Al-Omari said.

“The support provided by the group for scientific research is not limited to launching this award, but rather it extends to the establishment of the Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Center for Scientific Research, which in turn launched the first issue of a periodical scientific journal named ‘Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib HMJ,’” he added.

The scientific journal’s contributors include an academic elite from several countries.
